85° to 90°
Power Yoga
Express Power Flow, Power Flow and Hot Power Flow, Vinyasa classes at 85 to 90 degrees for athletic beginners and up.
What power flow is
Power flow is Vinyasa at 85 degrees. Movement is linked to breath, one pose handing off to the next, and the pace and the holds are built around strength. It is a different feel from the 100 degree Hatha rooms, with less standing still and more moving through.
The studio runs it three ways. Express Power Flow is 50 minutes at 85 degrees. Power Flow is 60 minutes at 85 degrees. Hot Power Flow is 60 minutes at 90 degrees, five degrees warmer than the other two.
All three are Vinyasa classes, so the sequence changes from teacher to teacher and day to day. What stays steady is the breath-led rhythm and the demand on your legs, shoulders and core.

Who it suits
The studio recommends every power class for the athletic beginner or the more experienced yogi, and it asks for some knowledge of Sun Salutations and basic standing poses first. That is the whole entry requirement: you do not need arm balances, you need to be comfortable with the basics.
Teachers shape the room. Amit Kutty teaches an Ashtanga-influenced Vinyasa power flow with handstands and arm balances in the mix. Sarah Letson teaches strength-based classes with challenging holds. Both are on the instructors page.
If Sun Salutations are new, learn them first in All Levels Flow or in one of the hot formats, then come back. The power room is more fun when you are not decoding the sequence.
Building into it
Pair power flow with something that slows down. Ashtanga Basics gives you a fixed series to learn at the same 85 degrees, and All Levels Flow in a warm room lets you rebuild with advanced options when you want them.
Rest whenever you need it. Child's pose is always allowed, and a student who rests and rejoins is doing the class correctly. Strength builds through frequency more than through one all-out session.
The monthly unlimited membership covers both studio locations and virtual classes, so a week can mix Power Flow, Ashtanga and a slower evening without watching a class count. New students can start with two weeks unlimited for $49.
