Oak Park studio

Infrared heat

Enjoy hot yoga? We do too! In 2022 we invested in a new and improved heating system for our Oak Park studio.

The studio is excited about the change and thinks you will love it too. Every class on the schedule is listed by the temperature of its room, so you always know how hot you are walking into.

How infrared works

Warming people, not only air.

A general explanation of the two approaches. For specifics about the studio's own system, ask at the front desk.

Forced air heats the room first.

A conventional forced-air heater warms the air and moves it around with a fan. Bodies, floors and walls warm up only as that air touches them, so the room can feel breezy and take time to settle.

Infrared heats what it reaches.

Infrared panels give off radiant heat. It is absorbed directly by the people, mats and surfaces in front of the panel, the same way a sunny patch of floor feels warm even when the air around it is cool.

Why it suits a hot room.

Hot yoga is about holding a steady temperature while you move. A radiant source warms the space you practice in, and the studio sets each class room to its listed temperature, from the 100° Hot 90 down to the 75° Chill. The studio put in its new system in 2022.
