100°
Hot Yoga
Hot 90, Hot 60 and Heated & Hot Power Flow, taught at 90 to 100 degrees in Oak Park's Hemingway District.
What the heat is for
Hot 90 and Hot 60 both run at 100 degrees in a Hatha format. The temperature is the same in both rooms. The difference is time, ninety minutes or sixty, and neither one is the easier class. Both are open to all levels, and beginners are welcomed.
A Hatha format builds a class from a set sequence of standing and floor poses, held long enough to feel them. When the sequence is familiar you spend less attention on what comes next and more on how a pose feels today. Repetition is how most people learn a new shape.
The heat does a plain job. You sweat early, you slow your breathing sooner, and every pose asks a little more of you than it would in a cool room. Even simple shapes need your attention.

Your first hot class
Arrive hydrated and bring water and a towel. A mat helps if you own one. Come a few minutes early so you can settle into the room before the class starts.
Stay in the room. If it gets to be a lot, rest in child's pose or lie down on your mat for as long as you need. Resting is part of the class, and most people spend their first visit finding the pace that works for them.
Heated & Hot Power Flow is the faster cousin, a Vinyasa format at 90 to 95 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes. The studio recommends it for athletic beginners and more experienced students who know Sun Salutations and basic standing poses. If those are new to you, start with Hot 60 or Hot 90.
Coming back for more
Frequency beats intensity. Three moderate classes in a week teach you more than one heroic one, and the heat gets easier to meet each time. Two weeks of unlimited classes for $49 gives a new student room to try exactly that.
A sensible path runs from Hot 60 to Hot 90 once an hour feels comfortable, then into Hot Power Flow when the sequence is familiar and you want more pace.
In 2022 the studio put a new infrared heating system into the Oak Park room, and the infrared heat page explains how it works. Classes are booked on the Oak Park schedule on Mindbody.
Hot 90 and Hot 60 welcome beginners, and new students get two weeks of unlimited classes for $49.
